Our Story

What began as a simple request from my stream viewers to watch us play D&D, and our desire to try it out for the first time, quickly blossomed into a complete love of the imaginative tales we created and shared with everyone watching.

For a few months, we were content with using a couple of webcams, a crappy mixer, and a few cheap Ikea tabletops to spin our tales in my basement. However, we soon realized that we wanted more; to go big, or to go home. We wanted to create the ultimate immersive visual experience for ourselves, and our viewers. We planned for months, discussing the possibility of first, hanging some things on the walls, adding a curtain to cover the open space behind 2 our of players. Shortly after, we were discussing DSLR cameras, and a full tavern experience. We scoured the web for sources and references of LOTR/medieval tavern settings so that when we did this, we would do it right.

Thus, the concept was born; an immersive tavern would be our future home. Several online purchases, craft store trips, Home Depot runs, and construction planning later, we decided on Christmas time to begin. We told our viewers we would take a small break for the holiday. Little did they know, when we returned, they would be treated to something out of this world. 2 weeks of 8 hour days constructing later, and the tavern was born. A few more craft store trips, cable running, decorating, and final touches later, it was finished; our new home.

Now, every tavern needs a name, and this one is no exception. But what do you call a place like this, where tales and drinks are shared among friends, and adventure drifts through the air (and the web!) to anyone that will lend their ear. A place where everyone who finds us is always welcome.

Welcome friends, to the Wanderers’ Hideaway Tavern
